We can swim in LBC

ABC News - Most Polluted Beaches

I missed this news a year ago, but Long Beach has done $16 million in improvements to storm drains, and the water is clean is now considered extremely clean and safe for swimming.

Some other interesting things I found:

- When it rains, wait three days to go to the beach.

- You can check the Heal the Bay's Beach Report Card site before you pick a particukar.  They test all the time and update weekly.  It lists literally every beach in California by county and in some cases has photos and details on public access and if the shore is considered too rocky to sunbathe.

- Water quality can vary wildly in a matter of weeks.  In February in Seal Beach, the beaches received an F. This month, straight A's.

- Summer months are the cleanest time to swim.  Isn't that convenient?  Thanks nature!

- Seal Beach gets on both the best and the worst lists of Orange County, weird.

- You can volunteer for beach cleanup most Saturdays of the month.  Info for LB/SB/HB here.
